New Regional Model

Transitioning to a new Regional Economic Development Agency for Greater Saint John.

Focused on GROWTH.

The region’s existing economic development agencies including Develop Saint John, Discover Saint John, and EDGSJ, will transition into a new regional entity effective January 1, 2021.

This multi-disciplinary, growth-focused organization will be funded by the regional municipalities of Grandbay-Westfield, Hampton, Quispamsis, Rothesay and the City of Saint John with the support of the private sector and other levels of government.

The competitive advantage of this innovative, consolidated organization will benefit everyone – including our current and future development customers. The new organization will continue to offer everything you need to develop your project: quick approvals, strong connections, and full support throughout the development process.

The new organization will have a budget and the scale to compete with the other larger urban centres across Atlantic Canada and beyond, and will lead:

• Community marketing, promotion, and branding
• People attraction
• Expansion of strategic industries
• Growing the tourism economy
• Entrepreneurial ecosystem growth and development
• Strategic infrastructure development
• Stakeholder relationships, ecosystem development, and private sector collaboration
• Data mining, analysis and KPI management

Few urban centres across Canada have consolidated all of these functions in the same agency. There will be significant value from bringing together the expertise and momentum in these separate organizations into a single entity.
